The 1975 reportedly have two new albums on the way, marking the band’s first major release since their 2022 record ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’. After three years without new material, fans may finally be getting not just one, but potentially two projects from the Mancunian group.
The update came directly from frontman Matty Healy, who revealed the news during a Q&A session with students at Gateshead College. Healy was visiting the college ahead of his appearance at next year’s Sunday for Sammy charity gig, an event that raises funds to support performing artists across the North East.
During the session, a fan asked Healy about the mysterious word ‘DOGS’, which flashed on screen at the end of The 1975’s massive Glastonbury headline set earlier this year. Many assumed the message hinted at new music — and it turns out they were right.
In response, Healy confirmed that it was the title of their next album, telling the fan: “We made two. It might be one, it might be two… but yeah, we’ve made two albums”.
The revelation has sparked a wave of excitement for listeners eager to see what direction the band will take next, especially after the critical praise that greeted their last release. With Healy’s hint that the two projects may be connected — or perhaps split into separate eras — speculation among fans is already in overdrive.
For now, all eyes are on the band for an official announcement. But one thing is certain: The 1975 are about to enter a brand-new chapter, and fans won’t be waiting much longer to hear it.
