Gavin and Stacey star Matthew Horne is to lead the cast for the upcoming west end play about the Oasis vs Blur chart war.
The play which is titled, The Battle will celebrate the iconic Britpop rivalry which took place between the pair during the 1990s. This battle saw Blur release 'Country House' and Oasis share 'Roll With It' in direct competition on the same day in August 1995 as they fought for the number one spot in the charts.
'The Battle of Britpop' was ultimately won by Blur, selling more than 274,000 copies, with Oasis selling 216,000 copies.
Written by author, screenwriter and former music industry icon John Niven, it is also directed by Matthew Dunster. Niven is renowned for his best selling book, O'Brother and satirical movie, Kill Your Friends, starring Nicholous Hoult. Dunster is also known for his work on the play, 2:22 A Ghost Story.
The Battle which debuts in February, will see Matthew Horne starring as influential Britpop music executive, Andy Ross. It will also see actors Paddy Stafford and George Usher play brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher respectively.
Blur's Damon Albarn will be played by Oscar Lloyd, with bandmate Graham Coxon played by Will Taylor, with Brandon Bendell playing Alex James. Check out the cast list for The Battle in full here.
