Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger has surprised fans after revealing he is a long-time admirer of Swedish pop star Zara Larsson, saying he has followed her music “since day one”.

Speaking on the NBC Today Show, the rock icon was asked which modern artists he listens to, and shared a recent conversation with his son about Larsson’s popularity.

According to Jagger, his son suggested the singer was enjoying a “big comeback”, but he quickly disagreed with that assessment.

“But she never went away for me. I’ve liked her since ‘Ruin My Life,’ you know?” Jagger said.

He went on to explain his simple appreciation for her music, adding: “It’s just what I like. When I’m in that mood, that’s what I like.”

The comments were warmly received by Zara Larsson, who was shown the clip during her own appearance on the Today Show.

She described Jagger’s praise as “amazing” and said it was “beautiful to see” support from such an iconic figure in music.

Larsson has enjoyed sustained international success since breaking through in the mid-2010s with hits including Lush Life and Never Forget You, building a strong global fanbase and continued streaming presence.

Jagger’s comments also come amid renewed activity from The Rolling Stones, who recently announced a new album titled Foreign Tongues.

Reports suggest the record will include an Amy Winehouse cover, though no collaboration with Larsson has been confirmed.

The legendary rock band recently unveiled the first episode of a behind-the-scenes podcast documenting the making of their upcoming album.

Speaking In Tongues is a six-part podcast series that gives listeners unprecedented access to the creation of the new record.

Released across all major podcast platforms, the opening episode takes fans inside the studio as Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood reflect on the inspiration behind the album, their songwriting process and the collaborators who helped shape the project.

The series also features contributions from producer Andrew Watt, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood and album cover artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn.

Hosting the podcast is Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Norah Jones, a lifelong Rolling Stones fan who has previously collaborated with members of the band.

Their new studio album Foreign Tongues is due to be released on July 10 via Polydor/Universal Music.
