The Rolling Stones have treated fans to a double release, unveiling a brand-new single alongside the first episode of a behind-the-scenes podcast documenting the making of their upcoming album.

The legendary rock band released Jealous Lover on Friday together with an accompanying music video directed by Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton.

The track is the latest preview of their forthcoming studio album, Foreign Tongues, which is due to be released on July 10 via Polydor/Universal Music.

Alongside the new single, fans can also hear Divine Intervention, another track from the album which features The Cure frontman Robert Smith. He is one of two guest appearances on the record, joining an extensive list of collaborators.

Following the upbeat, pop-rock sound of previous single In The Stars, Jealous Lover sees the band return to their rhythm and blues roots with a soulful groove and a falsetto vocal performance from Mick Jagger.

The song centres on an overprotective and suspicious lover, with Jagger delivering the lyrics with his trademark wit and swagger.

Musically, the track is driven by guitar work from Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, while longtime bassist Darryl Jones and drummer Steve Jordan provide the rhythm section. Veteran musician Steve Winwood contributes Rhodes piano and organ, with producer Andrew Watt and keyboardist Matt Clifford adding further instrumentation.

The release comes as excitement builds for Foreign Tongues, the band's first studio album since Hackney Diamonds, which won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album following its release in 2023.

As well as new music, the band has launched Speaking In Tongues, a six-part podcast series that gives listeners unprecedented access to the creation of the new record.

Released across all major podcast platforms, the opening episode takes fans inside the studio as Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood reflect on the inspiration behind the album, their songwriting process and the collaborators who helped shape the project.

The series also features contributions from producer Andrew Watt, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood and album cover artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn.

Hosting the podcast is Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Norah Jones, a lifelong Rolling Stones fan who has previously collaborated with members of the band.
