Oasis will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their hit ‘Supersonic’, by re-releasing the track as a physical single.

Initially released on 11 April, 1994, ‘Supersonic’ was the debut single from Oasis, which later featured on their maiden debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’, becoming one of their most successful hits.

The song was originally based on a Noel Gallagher demo, which he reportedly curated in the studio, while the other Oasis members were on a lunch break.

‘Supersonic’ was produced by Oasis, with their live sound engineer, Mark Coyle.

“celebrate”

The track was recorded in a single day at Liverpool’s Pink Museum on 19 December 1993.

According to DJ Phil Smith, ‘Supersonic’ only cost £100 to produce, and was never re-recorded following the demo take, and included vocals recorded in one take from Liam Gallagher.

It peaked at number 31 in the UK Singles Chart, and Number Two in the UK Independent Singles Chart. The single was also the first Oasis tune to hit the US Charts.

Three decades on from its original release, former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher confirmed that the Britpop supremoes would be re-sharing a physical release of the single.

“To celebrate 30 years of Supersonic, the original CD single and a limited edition pearl-coloured and numbered 7” release on April 12th, 2024″, Gallagher wrote on Instagram yesterday.

It was also confirmed that these physical copies would also include the track ‘Take Me Away’, which had featured on the B-Side to ‘Supersonic’ in its original release.

Last month, Liam Gallagher said that he was optimistic that Oasis will eventually reunite.

However, the singer insisted that his estranged brother Noel needs to make the first move, and set the wheels in motion for any reunion to happen.
