Paul Weller has said that he is "not in a rush" to make new music.
The former Jam frontman said that "what will be will be" when asked if he will release a new album or not.
“No, no. No, not at the moment", Weller replied when asked by Radio X's Mick Talbot if a new album was on the horizon. "I'm not in a rush at the moment. So, I've put enough records out in the last few years. I'm just writing with other people, doing a bit of production and stuff like that. Still trying to be creative, but I’m not in a rush to make a record".
On creating new music, Weller added: “I wait until it comes and finds me, you know? And then I’ll make another one, possibly, or I won’t. Whatever. Yeah, what will be will be".
Elsewhere, Weller also claimed that spending three decades answering the same questions about his former band, The Jam, has "put him off" talking about the past.
He said: “Well, I've talked about it in subsequent years. You know, it took, like a sort of a good, I don’t know, 20, 30 years for people, interviews to stop asking me when am I going to get The Jam back, or why did we split up, you know? So, that always put me off sort of talking about the past. You know, just like, can't we just talk about what I'm doing now, you know? But with time and age, I don't mind talking about these things. You know, I’m very proud of what we did and I'm glad, after many years, that we kind of got a bit more respect for the band, really. Because we got sort of trashed a lot, especially towards the end, by the press and critics and whatever. So, it's nice to have it reevaluated and see actually, there was some great things going on there".
Last year, Paul Weller had announced plans to sue his former accountants for dropping him following his public statements on Israel's actions in Gaza. This happened after the singer was allegedly told that their accountants and tax advisers would no longer work with him or his companies over his political views. More on this from Nova here.
