Shane Lowry has won the Irish open in Doonbeg with an 11 shot victory in an Irish Open record.

This is the second time Lowry has won the Irish open, since his 4 shot lead as an amateur in 2009.

With a second title under his belt Lowry has proved to be just as good, if not better, than he was 17 years ago.

Donald Trump was waiting to hand the trophy to Lowry as he finnished.

The American president did much more than simply watch golf this weekend, as many of his comments have received international backlash.

On Saturday Trump made his opinion on a "united Ireland" public. Trump said he believed it would be a "great thing" to see the island unified.

These remarks came two weeks after the British Prime Minister Andy Burnahm said talks on the matter were "off the table".

Trump has spent much time appealing to Irish nationals as he also told crowds at the open he would remove tarriffs from certain Irish products such as whiskey.
