Ireland is set to enjoy a welcome improvement in the weather this weekend, with Met Éireann forecasting mostly dry and calm conditions on Sunday after several days of storms and heavy rain.
The country has been battered by three significant storms in recent days, including Storm Austen and Storm Boelo, which brought flooding, power outages and several Status Orange weather warnings.
However, the latest national forecast suggests conditions will begin to settle as the weekend progresses, with Sunday looking particularly promising for anyone hoping to get outdoors over Halloween weekend.
Met Éireann's outlook points to a generally more settled spell, with some dry and bright weather expected through the coming days, although rain and breezy conditions will linger at times.
Mostly cloudy at first with scattered outbreaks of rain🌧️
The rain will linger in northern areas but clear to isolated showers and some sunny spells through the morning🌦️
Most areas will then see a dry day with just the chance of well scattered light showers.

Thursday night will remain cloudy and breezy, with persistent rain or drizzle spreading from the southwest and west towards the eastern half of the country. Temperatures will stay between 10 and 13 degrees, with fresh to strong southerly winds.
Friday is expected to remain largely cloudy, with rain gradually spreading eastwards through the morning. The best of any drier and brighter weather is forecast along the east coast, while temperatures could reach 13 to 15 degrees.
Rain is also expected to continue overnight on Friday, although the southeast could see some clearer and drier spells.
Saturday will begin cloudy and wet in the north and west, with rain gradually moving southeastwards and becoming lighter and patchier. Temperatures are expected to reach between 12 and 14 degrees.
The biggest improvement is forecast for Sunday, when high pressure begins to build over Ireland, bringing mostly dry and calm conditions.
Sunny spells are expected to develop across much of the country, although the northern half may remain cloudier. It will be cooler than earlier in the weekend, with temperatures ranging from 9 to 13 degrees and light northerly winds.
The improving outlook comes as Ireland heads into Halloween weekend, with the prospect of drier weather offering some welcome relief after the recent unsettled conditions.
Weather Alerts Ireland has also highlighted the high-pressure system expected to build over the weekend, which could approach the Irish October record of 1043.8 hectopascals, recorded at Sherkin Island in 2018.
😍🔴 Record breaking high pressure? 🔴😍
After a few stormy days high pressure is forecast to build over the weekend and it will bring much needed settled and calmer weather to Ireland.
The record in October in Ireland for high pressure is 1043.8hPa set back in 2018 at Sherkin Island. This high pressure is forecast to get up to 1043 and depending on positioning it could be close to getting a new record!
Just to note high pressure does not mean warm and sunny. Depending in where it is located it can bring cloud and cold air too but it will be drier than what we have experienced over the past week.

While high pressure does not guarantee sunshine everywhere, the system is expected to bring calmer and drier conditions than those experienced over the past week.
For now, Sunday looks like the best day of the weekend for getting outside, although conditions will vary depending on where you are in the country.
