Previously unseen footage from a Nirvana show in 1990, has gone up for auction.
The footage is taken from the band's live show at Iguanas in Tijuana, Mexico, which took place on 17 February 1990.
The video was previously unpublished, including audio is up for auction at Bonhams, and is expected to fetch for between $100,000 and $150,000. Lasting for 45 minutes, the show is taken from Nirvana during their formative years as they promoted their album, 'Bleach'.
Footage is taken from two cameras who were at the show, on two original master Sony Video 8 tapes. They also come with labels reading 'ORIGINAL MASTER CAMERA-A', and 'CAMERA B', which is written in black felt tip.
The tapes themselves also come with stickers reading ‘NIRVANA I AND NIRVANA II’, which was written in red ink.
This collection will also include two Sony mini DV tapes, digital transfers of the complete raw footage from the Video 8 tapes.
A portable SSD hard drive also contains the “complete, digitised raw footage from both cameras, the professionally edited version of the concert, the edited version of the concert with a security watermark, and some stills taken from the video files”, will also be included.
It will also feature a US Copyright Office Certificate of Registration for the cinematographic content plus editing of the concert video.
An original Nirvana poster for their show at Raji's nightclub on 15 February 1990, along with a first original Sub Pop pressing of Nirvana's album, 'Bleach' on white vinyl comes with this collection. It has been limited to just 1,000 copies. Nirvana's show at Raji's nightclub took place two nights before the show at Iguanas.
That night saw Nirvana play 13 shows, and frontman Kurt Cobain smash two guitars, including his homemade pink ‘Mustang’ guitar and the other was a ‘70s Gibson SG.
Speaking of guitars, it was also announced that the one used by Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain from the iconic 'MTV Unplugged' performance, is to feature at an upcoming London exhibition. More on this here.
