The fintech company said the technical issue was affecting multiple services, potentially leaving some customers unable to access certain features, make card payments or carry out transactions.
According to RTE Revolut confirmed that its engineers were working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible in a message posted on X.
The bank also reassured customers that their funds and personal information remained secure despite the disruption.
“We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services,” a Revolut spokesperson said.
“We've been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience caused.”
Revolut's online system status indicated that dozens of services were partially unavailable, including card payments, bank transfers, ATM withdrawals, premium features and account sign-in.
The company has not confirmed how many customers have been affected or provided a definitive timeline for the full restoration of services.
The disruption is understood to be linked to an outage involving a third-party provider, with the issue extending beyond Revolut.
The Journal reports that Google Cloud has also reported problems affecting several services in its Europe West region, including intermittent network failures. Its engineers are investigating the issues.
Revolut has approximately 3.4 million customers in Ireland, making it one of the country's most widely used digital banking providers.
The latest disruption comes after the company faced two separate data security incidents affecting customers in September.
On 14 September, Revolut informed some customers that criminals had obtained personal information, including copies of passports and driving licences, dates of birth, home addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers.
The company said an “unauthorised third party” had used an email domain associated with a legitimate government agency to submit “fraudulent requests for information”.
Revolut did not disclose the total number of people affected or their locations. However, reports at the time indicated that approximately 700 customers worldwide had been impacted, including around 12 in Ireland.
A second incident was reported later in the month, when Irish customers were among those potentially affected by a security breach at DriveWealth, a US brokerage firm that facilitates American stock trading for Revolut users.
DriveWealth said the incident involved unauthorised access to historical personal information belonging to some of its customers.
The data potentially exposed included names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses and employment details. Other information that may have been accessed included nationality, age, gender and partial DriveWealth account numbers.
While the latest service disruption has raised concerns among customers experiencing difficulties accessing their accounts, Revolut has stressed that their money and data remain safe.
Customers are awaiting confirmation that all affected banking services have returned to normal.
