Rod Stewart was joined by a trio of superstars during his Glastonbury set. The star played the festivals coveted "legends" slot on Sunday afternoon and performed alongside former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood.

The crowd also saw the star on stage with Simply Red's Mick Hucknall, and Scottish singer Lulu. Stewart was later joined by the festivals founder Micheal Eavis and his daughter, the festivals organiser, Emily Eavis.

Stewart, now 80 years old, transformed the energy at his set during the festival. The star has a long list of songs to chose from, his set ranged from the new wave synths of Young Turks to the melodies of Maggie May and Sailings. He emerged on to stage with the sounds of bagpipes from Scotland The Brave, announcing to the crowd that his set has begun.

"I’m here, enjoy yourselves ladies and gentleman, please, music brings us together, we need music," he said to the crowd as he emerged onto the stage at Glastonbury.

He first welcomed Hucknall to the stage as they performed their own rendition of 'If You Don't Know Me By Now'. Wood then made his appearance as he played guitar whilst Stewart sang Faces 1971 hit song 'Stay With Me'. After, Lulu then emerged onto the stage to accompany Stewart as they sang 'Hot Legs' together.

Earlier this month, Stewart cancelled a string of shows in the US due to illness, despite this, the star performed a 90 minute set, with costume changes, delivering a lively and unforgettable performance. The crowd saw Stewart as he experimented with new meoldies and accomodating his voice as it changes. He entertained the crowd with crude jokes and song title adjustments.

He also included his political analysis as he says to the crowd, "There's been a lot about the Middle East recently, and quite rightly so, but I want to draw your attention to the Ukraine with this next song, it's called the Love Train!", The song was a cover of The O'Jays classic, it was essentially a plea for peace as the song mentions Russia, China, Egypt, England and Israel.

Across his set, he played songs including Some Guys Have All The Luck, Forever Young, The First Cut Is The Deepest, and Maggie May. Just before the set ended, Stewart revealed to have Celtic written across his back as his backing singers all wore Celtic jerseys. He ended the show with his hit 'Sailing'.
