Scott Weiland's son Noah Weiland, has said that he would "rather be dead" than live like his father.
Noah Weiland, who is the son of the late Stone Temple Pilots frontman, sparked fears with a number of posts on Instagram just days after playing live at the Garden Amp outdoor amphitheatre in Orange County on December 3.
Weiland was playing this show to mark the 10th anniversary of his father's passing aged 48, a show which saw him play songs from Scott's career, including 'Sex Type Thing', and Velvet Revolver's 'Slither'.
Eight days after this show, Noah Weiland wrote on Instagram: “Thank you everybody. Til next time,” set to Green Day’s ‘Last Night On Earth’, with another post questioning the money that he made from the tribute show.
Another post read: “I’d rather be dead…then live the same way my father did. Regardless of all this, it’s been a long journey. Can’t wait to see him again, and thank you for all the support along the way. Won’t ever forget this".
However, on December 18, Noah shared a more reassuring post on social media, making reference to concerns raised from his previous messages.
“Well I wasn’t exactly expecting tmz to post about me wanting to [kill] myself,” he said. “I guess im just new to this attention".
Noah Weiland went on to add that he was sharing his new mixtape, 'CRASHOUT JUNKIE' as a SoundCloud-only exclusive, in honour of his “final crashout of the year”. You can check out that mixtape here.
Back in 2017, Stone Temple Pilots shared a video tribute in honour of Weiland.
The video shows the band listening to one of the late musician's vocal tracks, 'Atlanta', which has been viewed as one of his most powerful vocal performances of all time. Check that out for yourselves here.
In 2018, Stone Temple Pilots played their new song 'Finest Hour' in tribute to both the late Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington at a show in Atlanta. The track was performed by Stone Temple Pilots frontman Jeff Gutt, who was a huge admirer of Scott Weiland, and a close friend of Bennington's. Check this out and Nova's report on this here.
In 2020, Guns N'Roses also shared their own tribute to Weiland, with their own cover of Velvet Revolver's 'Slither' during a live show in Berlin. Weiland played in Velvet Revolver with Guns N'Roses' pair Duff McKagan and Slash.
