Stevie Nicks has shared a previously unearthed letter she sent to her parents pre fame.
The musician shared this handwritten note via Instagram following the recent reissue of the reissue of her 1973 record, 'Buckingham Nicks'.
“I wanted to share this letter I wrote to my family while Lindsey and I were making ‘Buckingham Nicks’. My mom saved it and it’s been in a drawer for over 50 years", Nicks said.
Written on stationary from California's Sound City Studios, Stevie Nicks began her letter by joking about “getting very tired of sitting around listening to 12 hours of music per day".
She continued: “I know it will pay off in the end,” adding that when she one day was sitting in her “small but luxurious Beverly Hills home”, it would “all be worth it".
Elsewhere, Nicks was keen to check that her family were okay. She then moved onto her 25th birthday, which she declared that her family “should set aside the entire month of May to celebrate the fact that I am now 1 quarter of a century old". She also went on to call it a landmark milestone which justified a "gala celebration".
On the recording process, she also added: “I certainly do miss you all, and wish you could be here to hear some of this stuff".
Speaking about her father Chris, Nicks mentioned that "rock and roll tune” ‘Don’t Let Me Down Again’ – with “the fancy guitar work” they both liked – was “almost finished”.
“Lindsey may go down in history as one of “greats” in guitar playing,” she insisted. “It really is quite amazing". Rounding off, she asked them to “hold good thoughts about this thing".
While it may not have been a commercial success following its original release, 'Buckingham Nicks' played a key role in Mick Fleetwood Mac asking Lindsey and Stevie joining the band.
Earlier this month, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have shared the track, 'Frozen Love' from their reissue of this album. More on this from Nova here.
