The support acts for the Stones Roses Marlay Park gig have recently been revealed. They are both certainly very interesting choices to support The Stone Roses.
Ian Brown and co. will play their first outdoor gig in Dublin since 2012 on July 9th, and supporting them will be an act that always goes down well with Irish music fans: Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela.
The other support act that was recently announced is Derry’s own SOAK, aka Bridie Monds-Watson – who clocked up Mercury Music Prize and Choice Music Prize nominations for her debut album.
Both of the support acts would be considered folk acts compared to the indie rock icons Stone Roses. The Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela relocated to Ireland where they would gain popularity in Dublin for their live shows.
Singer-songwriter SOAK on the other hand is seen as being one of the brightest young stars in the Irish music scene. Her debut album Before We Forgot How To Dream came out last year to rave reviews in the UK and Ireland.
The Stone Roses will play Marlay Park on Saturday, July 9th before moving on to play four nights at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
