The teenage boy had been riding an e-bike before he was found unresponsive at around 11pm on Friday at Cottage Cross. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí have asked that any witnesses, including those with dashcam footage of the Cloonlara area around that time please come forward.
Diversions are currently in place as the investigation remains underway.
