The Inbetweeners could be set to make an unlikely return after a new deal was agreed to unlock the title rights.
This deal would mean a return for the Channel Four comedy after more than a decade. Originally broadcasting between 2008 and 2010, the comedy followed the adventures of teenagers Simon, Neil, Jay Cartwright and Will MacKenzie.
Now, it has been announced that Baniay UK and Fudge Park Productions agreed a deal with the shows' writers and creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, which has unlocked its rights to the comedy title, and a potential for its return across TV, film and stage.
"We are thrilled to announce this exciting partnership with Banijay who share our vision and ambition for one of the most iconic comedies in British history", Jonathan Blyth, managing director at Fudge Park said. "This is a wonderful moment for fans, there are exciting conversations afoot and more news to follow".
Chief executive at Banijay UK, Patrick Holland also had this to say.
"I have worked with Damon and Iain on a number of Fudge Park projects over the years and was delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of The Inbetweeners with them", he stated. "They have an infectious creative vision for the brand which will resonate with audiences old and new so I can’t wait to get going".
The Inbetweeners starred Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, as the teens faced school, friendship, lad culture and failed sexual experiences. The cast also reprised their roles for two films in 2011 and 2014.
