The Rolling Stones have said they are "nearly done" working on a new album.
This will serve as a follow up to the band's 24th studio album, 'Hackney Diamonds', which they released in 2023, which featured the last recordings of their late drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021.
The album which featured guest appearances from Elton John, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney, went on to win the 'Best Rock Album' award at the Grammys 2025.
Reports of a new Rolling Stones album were first revealed in July, with Mick Jagger, with reports that Keith Richards and Ronnie Woods have been working in a studio since April. More on this here.
News of the band's upcoming album was announced by actor and film producer Marlon Richards, son of Rolling Stones' Keith Richards.
When asked what the band were currently working on, Richards told Rolling Stone: “They’re in town right now, recording".
He said: “They’re in Chiswick [West London] or somewhere like that; I think they’re nearly done. They still maintain these ridiculous hours: after lunch until, like, two in the morning. I’d rather be somewhere else at that time of night! Unless you’re in it, it’s pretty boring".
When pressed on specifics, he added: “I guess an album – they have enough left over from the last one".
“They gave them a Grammy, so now they’re all hyped up on that: ‘Oh, yeah – we can do another one like that! We’ve got more like that if you want…’. I think they’re doing the
follow-up".
Regarding rumours of any upcoming tour, Richards said: “I think they’re planning a tour of Europe".
