The Strokes have announced their first Dublin performance in two decades, marking a long-awaited return for Irish fans as part of their upcoming world tour.

The New York band will take to the stage at the 3Arena on October 28, with support from Fat White Family and Alex Cameron.

Tickets are set to go on sale this Friday at 10am, with prices ranging from €83.75 to €255.25, reflecting the scale of demand expected for the group’s long-overdue Irish comeback.

Best known for defining hits such as Last Nite and Hard to Explain, the band’s return to Dublin represents a significant moment for fans who have not seen them perform in the city since the mid-2000s, during the height of their early success.

The tour will span North America, the UK, Europe and Japan, and comes in support of their upcoming album Reality Awaits, due for release on June 26.

The record marks the band’s first new material since 2020’s The New Abnormal, which was widely praised and signalled a major resurgence in their career.

Ahead of the album’s release, The Strokes have already begun reintroducing themselves to global audiences.

The band performed at Coachella over the weekend and recently unveiled Going Shopping, the lead single from the new project, offering fans an early glimpse of the sound and direction of the record.

Reality Awaits was recorded across multiple locations, including Costa Rica, where the band worked with renowned producer Rick Rubin, before completing the project in studios around the world. The album is expected to build on the momentum of their previous release while exploring new creative ground.

Formed in the late 1990s, The Strokes — made up of Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr, Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti — are widely regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the 21st century.

Their 2001 debut album Is This It is often credited with reigniting interest in guitar-driven music at the start of the 2000s, helping to usher in a new wave of indie and garage rock bands. The record featured some of their most enduring tracks, including Last Nite, Someday and Hard To Explain, and remains a landmark release in modern rock history.

Over the years, the band have maintained a dedicated global following, balancing periods of relative quiet with high-profile returns, including their recent run of festival appearances and international touring.

For Irish audiences, however, this announcement carries added weight. A Dublin headline show has been notably absent from their touring schedule for years, making this upcoming performance at the 3Arena one of the most anticipated live music events of the year.

With new music on the way and renewed momentum behind them, The Strokes’ long-awaited return signals not just a nostalgic moment, but the beginning of a fresh chapter — one that Irish fans will finally get to experience live.
