Gardaí have arrested a pair of “renegades” after our city’s prized statute of Phil Lynott was vandalised and cracked badly across the midriff. The incident happened at around 4.15am on Friday.
Two “Wild Ones” in their 20s were arrested and later released by Gardaí last night, after handing themselves in at Pearse Street Garda Station.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The statue of the Lizzy frontman has been removed from its position on Harry Street for repairs.
Philomena Lynott, cried on hearing of the vandalism but then smiling through her tears said, “He’s gone to hospital, he’ll be OK”.
