A 24 year old woman has been killed following a hit-and-run incident in Belfast in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Raven Adams, the young woman from Tipperary, died after she was struck by a car in an incident which also saw a 22 year old man seriously injured after he was also struck by the vehicle. The incident occurred in the York Street area of Belfast.
Police have said that they responded to this incident at around 2.40am.
The young man was taken to hospital for treatment.
It was also reported that 22 year old driver had fled the scene after the two people were hit by the car. He was later arrested in the nearby Cavehill area.
Police have also issued an appeal for any witnesses to contact them.
Speaking about this incident, DUP MLA, Philip Brett has said that he was "deeply saddened" by the tragic events.
"The local community is in shock at the seriousness of what has happened, and my thoughts are with everyone affected, together with their families and loved ones, at this incredibly difficult time", Mr Brett said. (Quotes according to RTÉ).
Following these tragic events, it was later reported that a man and woman in their 70s died following a road collision in Co Louth. In the same incident, a man and woman aged in their 30s were left seriously injured.
That means that 100 people have been killed on Irish roads this year, compared with 90 for the same period in 2025. More on this from Nova here.
