Tool Break Chart Record And Reveal New Album Tracklist

Last week, Tool dropped “Fear Inoculum,” their first new studio recording in 13 years and broke a US chart record in the process.

The track is a whopping 10-minute-22-second prog-metal epic, with a long intro that is driven by tablas. The esoteric odyssey is also replete with whispery vocals and numerous time signature changes.

Thanks to the incredibly long release, Spin reports that “Fear Inoculum” is now the longest song ever to break the Billboard Hot 100, and the first 10-minute-plus track ever to do so by any musical act.

CoS reports that the tracklist has been unveiled for Tool’s fifth full-length effort.
The physical CD of Fear Inoculum features seven songs, while the digital version includes three additional segue songs mixed in between the main seven tunes.

The CDs will include access to a digital download, so anyone who buys physical copies won’t miss out on those additional three tracks. Fear Inoculum drops on August 30th, with pre-orders available now from here.
