Boy is U2’s Debut album and was released in October 20^th 1980; the album was produced by Steve Lillywhite and recorded at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin, after 7 months in the studio between March and September it was then released by Island Records. Boy tends to run well with a gorgeous feel and movement to each track. This is an immature U2 sound but yet you know what they develop in to. With highs and lows from slow to paced, Bono and the boys forge a friendship with their sound. Any young aspiring band would be proud to put down a song of any calibre that is on this album. With a Dark undertone mixed with ups and downs in pace along with Bono’s harmony makes this album a fine debut.  The album runs and a nice 42:13. The Singles released from the album were A Day Without Me and I Will Follow that peaked at 20 on the mainstream rock charts. It became a hit on college radio and established a buzz surrounding the group’s debut. The album was preceded by Three, a three song E.P with different recordings of Out of Control and Stories For Boys as well as a song called Boy/Girl.                                                                 The Boy used on the cover is Peter Rowan who is the brother of one of Bono’s friends. He also featured on the front covers of Three, War, the Best of 1980-1990 and Early Demos. Due to fears that the band would be accused of paedophilia the cover was changed to a distorted image of the band for release in North America. Boy Reached no 63 in the American Album charts and had over 1 million + sales, In Canada it reached 12 in the Album Charts with 100,000 copies sold In the U.K Boy reached 52 in the charts and sold over 100,000 copies                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               On the 21^st of July 2008 a re-mastered version of the album was released in 3 different formats 1 Standard format, Which had a single re-mastered C.D plus a 16 page booklet 2- Deluxe Format Which included a standard C.D a Bonus Disc and a 32 page booklet 3 Vinyl Format a re mastered version of the original on 18- gram vinyl.
