Reports surrounding Tom Hardy and his role in the Paramount+ series MobLand have sparked widespread speculation after claims emerged that the actor’s behaviour on set caused serious tension with producers and cast members.
According to industry reporting from The Hollywood Reporter, Hardy has been involved in clashes with producers on the series, including executive producer Jez Butterworth and executives at 101 Studios, the production company behind the crime drama filmed in the UK.
One source described incidents during filming in which Hardy allegedly refused to leave his trailer for extended periods, leaving cast members waiting on set.
“He refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time,” the source said, adding that he reportedly kept senior cast members waiting during production.
The same source claimed the behaviour created frustration among the ensemble cast, which includes major stars such as Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.
“He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play. Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

The situation reportedly contributed to uncertainty over Hardy’s future on the series, although his status has not been officially confirmed. A source close to production noted that a third season of MobLand has not yet been formally greenlit, meaning no final casting decisions have been made.
Hardy’s representatives have not publicly responded to the allegations.
Further reports suggest tensions may also stem from creative disagreements, with claims that Hardy attempted to contribute script notes and adjust dialogue during production. However, these accounts have not been independently verified.

The actor’s reputation for being intense and private on set has been discussed previously within the industry. Director George Miller, who worked with Hardy on Mad Max: Fury Road, has previously acknowledged friction between cast members during filming, though he framed it as part of the creative process rather than misconduct.
Hardy has also been described in earlier accounts by actor Patrick Stewart, who worked with him on Star Trek: Nemesis, as being reserved and socially withdrawn during production.
Despite the controversy, Hardy remains one of the most in-demand British actors in film and television, known for roles in Peaky Blinders, The Dark Knight trilogy, and the Venom franchise.
At present, there has been no official confirmation that Hardy has been removed from MobLand, and production decisions for future seasons remain ongoing.
