Irish singers Imelda May and Bono joined forces for a live version of 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' at a Dublin busking gig on Christmas Eve. You can check out footage of this below.

May performed with the U2 frontman as part of the special Grafton Street event, which has become a huge annual tradition for 15 years, with this year's event raising funds for the Dublin Simon Community, a charity which helps people who are at risk of homelessness in Ireland.

Other musicians taking part in the event in Dublin also included event organiser and Oscar winning singer-songwriter, Glen Hansard, as well as The Script's lead singer Danny O'Donoghue, with Bono and May performing Darlene Love's festive hit as a duet.

The Coronas' Danny O'Reilly, The Riptide Movement, and Shobsy also performed songs at the Dublin event, with the night finishing with a performance of The Pogues' and Kirsty McColl's classic, Fairytale of New York, with Imelda May wishing the late Shane MacGowan a "happy birthday for tomorrow".

Back in 2022, Glen Hansard opened up about the joys of busking with Bono, and about how the whole event came about.

“Bono’s car broke down at four o’clock in the morning. I helped him push his car into the garage and I said, ‘Would you be up for singing a few songs on Grafton Street?", the Frames singer revealed.

He continued, "And he was like, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘We’re just doing a bit of busking and then we give the money to Peter McVerry or Simon or whoever".

"And he was like, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘We’re just doing a bit of busking and then we give the money to Peter McVerry or Simon or whoever".

Paying tribute to Bono, Hansard praised the singer for joining the event, adding how “someone with a self-confessed massive ego is able to leave it at the door and go, ‘Right, let’s do this". He also added that the singer donates to charity.

In that same interview, Hansard also opened up about becoming a dad at the first time aged 52, saying that it had opened his heart "wide open". The singer and his partner, poet Maire Saaritsa welcomed a son, Christy back in October of that year.

Calling becoming a parent "the most incredible thing that has ever happened", Hansard added: “You would imagine anyone would say that…that’s exactly how it feels, it’s the most abstract and beautiful".
