Paul McCartney delivered a live performance of classic Beatles track, 'Hello Goodbye' as he closed out the final episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
News of Colbert's show being cancelled was announced last July, just days after the host criticised his network's parent company, Paramount for reaching a $16 million settlement with US President, Donald Trump.
The final episode of Colbert's show included several cameo appearances from Paul Rudd, Bryan Cranston, Ryan Reynolds and Tim Meadows.
However, it was Paul McCartney's appearance which stole the show, coming amid speculation over who would lead the show, with many predicting that it could be Pope Leo XIV. Colbert had joked that the Pope had been pencilled into to appear on the final episode, but would not come out of his dressing room amid a disagreement over snacks.
"The pope, who was definitely my guest tonight, has cancelled!" Colbert quipped. "Who's going to be my last guest now?".
At this point, Paul McCartney replied: "Hey, Stephen, what about me?", before walking out to rapid applause.
The Beatles legend's appearance on the show marked a full-circle moment, with Colbert's Late Show being filmed in the Ed Sullivan Theater, the same place where The Fab Four made their debut on US TV in 1964, a moment which is still regarded as one of the biggest moments in the history of rock music.
During his chat with Colbert, Paul McCartney kindly gifted the host a signed and framed photo from the show, as the pair also discussed various topics, including upcoming Beatles biopics, where McCartney joked that he is more culture than the actor who will be playing him, Paul Mescal.

Earlier today, US President Donald Trump reacted to this news on his Truth Social account, where he expressed his delight at Colbert's show being cancelled.
