The family of the three women and 7 year old child who suffered serious injuries in a crash along the M9 in Kildare, have said the support they have received “has meant more to us than we could ever properly put into words”, per the Irish Independent.
This comes after Ella Hendricken, Alma Kinsella and Niamh Kinsella, along with Alma's seven year old son were travelling on the M50, before a BMW carrying eight teenagers crashed into their vehicle after driving the wrong direction on the motorway in a head on collision.
It was reported that the family were travelling to Dublin Airport on route to a family wedding when the accident took place.
All four occupants were being treated at different hospitals. Niamh and Alma Kinsella were critically injured, while Ella and the young boy were left with serious injuries.
In the wake of this accident, a GoFundMe page was set up in support of the family of the three women and young boy, which saw several household names generously donate to, including RTÉ 2FM star, Roz Purcell who donated €1,000, as did singer and social media star, Garron Noone, while singer and father of Rosanna Davison, Chris De Burgh donated €500. At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page had raised more than €781,000.
In a statement released earlier this week, the family said that they wanted to “take a moment as a family to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who has supported” their four injured family members.
They added: “The kindness and generosity shown to our family has been truly overwhelming".
“From everyone who has donated, shared the fundraiser, sent messages, kept us in their thoughts or supported us in any way, please know how much it means to all of us".
“Right now, our focus is completely on the girls and being together as a family,” they said. “We aren’t ready to share any further details at this stage, and we really appreciate everyone continuing to respect our privacy".
They said that the support they have received nationwide and even abroad has meant so much to the family.
“What we did want to do was personally acknowledge the incredible support we’ve received", they said. “Seeing so many people come together for the girls has meant more to us than we could ever properly put into words.
