An Post 'horrified' as a van was spotted driving on the footpath in Kildare.
KildareNow has reported that An Post has launched a full investigation after one of its vans was filmed speeding along a footpath in Kildare.
The footage has gone viral on social media and shows an An Post van travelling along a footpath. The van passes close to the entrance of a property before the footage cuts as it approaches a nearby housing estate.
An Post said in a statement via KildareNow that it was "horrified" by what can be seen in the video and confirmed that the van had been "taken out of service several months ago."
They company also stated that an internal investigation had been launched after the company saw the footage.
A spokesperson for An Post told the Leinster Leader that "an internal investigation was launched as soon as we became aware of this footage yesterday."
“The driving depicted contravenes all our rules and high standards of driving. We cannot comment on individual cases but can confirm that this is being dealt with as a very serious, urgent matter," the spokesperson continued.
According to KildareNow, An Post is actively working to find out when this incident occurred since the van had not been operating for several months.
“An Post maintains very high standards of driving and all drivers receive ongoing training and refresher updates in safe driving, securing vehicles, driving in various weather conditions etc,” the An Post spokesperson added.
