It was recently announced that BBC would air a documentary paying tribute to the late Motorhead frontman Lemmy. It is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer from today onwards.
The tribute documentary is called Lemmy: In His Own Words and is comprised of archive footage from BBC interviews and live performances down through the years.
They will be using footage from previous BBC series that featured Lemmy, such as I’m In A Rock ‘N’ Roll Band and Heavy Metal Britannia plus live performances including Motörhead appearances on Later…With Jools Holland, The Young Ones and Top of the Pops.
Speaking about the new documentary BBC’s Music editor James Stirling said “Lemmy was a colossal figure in British music and he had a unique approach to both his songs and the industry he found himself in.”
He continued saying “There was a smart sense of humour at the heart of everything, something clearly demonstrated through his interviews and performances we’ve uncovered from the BBC Music archive.”
The official cause for Lemmy’s death was also announced recently, with reports revealing that he was suffering from terminal brain and neck cancer at the time of his death.
