John Hewson, the son of U2 frontman Bono, has been confirmed as one of the latest additions to the cast of Prime Video's upcoming adaptation of Irish author Chloe Walsh's hugely successful Boys of Tommen novels.

Hewson has been cast as Gerard Gibson in the romantic drama, which brings Walsh's bestselling novels Binding 13 and Keeping 13 to the screen. The series has generated significant anticipation among fans of the popular books, which have developed a devoted international following.

Prime Video also revealed several other new cast members joining the production. Amelia May will portray Claire Biggs, while Indy Lewis has been cast as Lizzie Young. Alex Dunne will take on the role of Hugh Biggs.

Rounding out the latest casting announcements are Dixie Egerickx as Katie Wilmot, Daisy Jacob as Bella Wilkinson, Jonathan Heed as Cormac Ryan and Cathal Ó Síocháin, who will portray Ronan McGarry. Casting is still underway for the role of Patrick Feely, one of the remaining key characters yet to be announced.

The newly revealed actors join a cast that already includes Nancy Surridge as Shannon Lynch and Conor Sánchez as Johnny Kavanagh, the two central characters in the story. James O'Donoghue will play Joey Lynch, while Sophie McGibbon has been cast as Aoife Molly.

Set in the fictional Irish town of Ballylaggin, Boys of Tommen centres on the relationship between Johnny Kavanagh, an exceptionally talented young rugby player with ambitions of turning professional, and Shannon Lynch, a quiet and reserved student who is new to the prestigious Tommen College. Although they come from vastly different backgrounds, the pair are drawn together while each struggles with deeply personal challenges. As their bond grows, they attempt to keep their romance hidden from those around them.

Prime Video announced the television adaptation earlier this year. The series is being directed by Brendan Canty, whose debut feature film Christy received praise following its release last year.

Screenwriter Poppy Cogan, known for her work on A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, has adapted the first season, which will be based on the opening two novels in Walsh's series.

The production is being developed by wiip in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, while Metropolitan is providing local production services in Ireland.

Once completed, Boys of Tommen will premiere exclusively on Prime Video, making the highly anticipated Irish drama available to viewers in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
