Bruce Springsteen has paid a surprise visit to Irish music legend Shane MacGowan ahead of his upcoming Dublin shows as part of his live tour.
‘The Boss’ visited the former Pogues singer at his home in South Dublin. Springsteen will take to the stage at Dublin’s RDS on Friday, Sunday and the following Tuesday as part of his tour with the E Street Band.
This tour marks the first onstage performance of Springsteen and the band since 2017.
Having kicked on April 28, this tour will see Springsteen perform across a myriad of European cities, including Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Oslo, Hamburg, Zurich, Copenhagen, Munich, Vienna among others.
“After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year”, Springsteen said when announcing these shows.
“And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year – and beyond!”.
“amazing honour”
Ahead of these shows at Dublin, Bruce Springsteen paid a visit to another legend of the music industry, former Pogues singer Shane MacGowan.
The meeting at MacGowan’s South Dublin home was captured by his wife Victoria Mary Clarke, who shared a photo of the pair via Twitter.
“What an amazing honour and a beautiful experience to get a visit from The Boss!!! @springsteen @ShaneMacGowan. Such a truly wonderful man and a total genius”, Clarke wrote.

Back in March, Springsteen had been forced to postpone several gigs from his North American leg of the tour due to illness.
“Due to illness, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s concert at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday March 12 has been postponed. We are working on rescheduling the date so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled show”, the band said in a statement via social media.
