Reports show that there has been an increase in casualties after the cataclysmic flood in Nepal and China on Wednesday. Over 600 people have been killed with at least 2,958 people still missing.

The Red Cross estimates that at least 3,700 people have been rescued in Nepal so far.

The floods swept through communities near the Nepal-Tibet border after an icecap of a nearby mountain collapsed.

Foreign nationals, including pilgrims and tourists travelling through the Himalayan region, are also among those whose whereabouts are still unknown.

Over 993 hydropower workers from Nepal, who were working on the mountain, have been added to the missing persons list.

Many of the survivors who made it out of the floods have been left with no homes, or "nothing left" and are waiting to hear the fate of their loved ones.

The scale of the humanitarian crisis continues to emerge, with the Red Cross estimating that approximately 93,000 people may have been affected by the disaster.

As search operations continue, many families are facing an agonising wait for news of relatives who remain missing.

Nepal's government have requested €3-€4 billion of aid to help rebuild after the flood.
