Damon Albarn has blasted the Rolling Stones over their latest album, ‘Hackney Diamonds’.

The Rolling Stones released ‘Hackney Diamonds’ back in October, which helped them make history, as they became the first act to have an album in the US Top 10 Chart in each decade since the 1960s.

Last month, their guitarist Keith Richards also promised fans that the band would continue to produce albums until they “drop”.

The Rolling Stones even hinted that a new tour could be on the horizon.

However, not everybody is so keen on this, with former Blur singer Damon Albarn slamming the band’s latest release.

“getting worse”

Speaking in a recent interview, Damon Albarn claimed that Mick Jagger and co have objectified Sydney Sweeney with this new album, adding that they are getting “worse” at staying themselves.

Elsewhere, Albarn also accused the Rolling Stones of  “devoting” their lives to releasing the same music and getting “worse” at it.

“I did all sorts of things, whereas they’ve never been anything other than the Rolling Stones. I love the idea of devoting your life to one thing, in search of the sublime. But the truth is, they’ve become worse”.

“Worse at persisting to stay themselves. That’s something I don’t understand. Making exactly the same music but not that good. There must be no joy in doing something like this”.

“all nonsense”

Albarn also blasted the Rolling Stones over their perceived lack of authenticity with this album.

“My family lives in Hackney and the way they showed up at the Hackney Empire venue really [hacked] me off. They’ve never did a thing in Hackney, they’ve never played there, never contributed to anything. They just showed up. It’s all nonsense”, Albarn said.

Albarn also criticised the band’s video for their single Angry’taking aim at their choice to include the ‘Euphoria’ actress posing on top of a moving car, as well as various close ups of her cleavage, while wearing a tight-fitted leather top.

He said, “I listened to their new song and watched this horrible music video showing them at different stages of their lives on billboards. And this young woman objectified. What the hell is this? There’s something completely disconnected”.
