Former Guns N’ Roses bass player Duff McKagan is helping out all the men out there, he’s publishing a new self-help book.

The advice book is titled ‘How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions)’ and will be available to purchase in May.

In addition to his music career, McKagan has had quite a bit of success as a writer. He’s written weekly columns on a wide range of topics for SeattleWeekly.com, Playboy.com and ESPN.com.

The idea for the book came from his Seattle Weekly column, also called ‘How To Be A Man’. The pieces were written in 2013 and covered topics such as ‘Learn How To Fight’, ‘Don’t Road Rage’, ‘Lead By Example’ and ‘Don’t Be A Pussy’.

Speaking about his new book, McKagan said: “I had a column for the Seattle Weekly for five years, and there was one column that was called ‘How To Be A Man’, and it was kind of tongue in cheek; it was really tongue in cheek. And I got a book deal from that column.”

“It’s a how-to guide of things I’ve learned about life – being a dad, being a husband and being in a rock band. And it’s, like, a city guide in it, but a very tongue-in-cheek city guide; like, how I see cities. It’s got all kinds of stuff. And other stories. And hopefully it’s gonna be a funny book.”

McKagan’s first book, an autobiography titled ‘It’s So Easy (And Other Lies)’, was released in 2012. It charts the bassist’s rise to fame with Guns N’Roses, his battles with alcohol and drug addiction, the forming of Velvet Revolver and his Lazarus transformation.
