Foals have retracted their recent claims that they are set to break up. Previously the band said that they would take a break before recording a new album.

Foals said in February that “We’ve only just put out a record so I think we’ve afforded to take some time [for a break]. I don’t think there’s a rush right now. We need to live life again, that’s always beneficial to making a record.”

They also said “I think we need to take a break,” adding that “It’s hard to predict [how long that will be]. We might start writing again tomorrow.”

Recently though Foals guitarist Jimmy Smith backtracked on this and said that the band won’t be breaking up anytime soon. Speaking in an interview with DIY Magazine, he said “It’s been a great year,” and adding that “There is more to come after Reading as well,” referring to their headline slot at Reading & Leeds festival.

This would seem to dispel the myth that they will be breaking up soon. There was talk of the band going their separate ways and pursuing their own solo projects, but this doesn’t appear to be on the agenda for now.
