Iron Maiden will be skipping this years Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony after calling it “an utter and complete load of b*****ks."

The band were announced with the inductees in the main 'Performer' category. Phil Colins, Billy Idol, Oasis and more joined Iron Maiden in the list of inductees.

Iron Maiden have been eligible for induction since 2005, they have been nominated twice however they have only recently been set to be inducted.

Back in 2018, frontman Bruce Dickinson expressed his opinions towards the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Responding to a fan during a Q&A session where he was asked if he thinks Iron Maiden should be inducted, he replied: “Absolutely, I actually think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an utter and complete load of b*****ks, to be honest with you."

“It’s run by a bunch of sanctimonious b***dy Americans who wouldn’t know rock and roll if it hit them in the face. They need to stop taking Prozac and start drinking f***ing beer," he continued.

In a statement posted to the official Instragram page for Iron Maiden, they quoted band manager Rod Smallwood explaining that the band will not be attending the induction ceremony due to their previous tour commitments.

“We’d like to thank the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for including us (and former members who were all part of our story) in the 2026 roll call of inductees. Iron Maiden have always been about our relationship with our fans above anything else, including awards and industry accolades. However, having said that, it’s always nice to be recognised and honoured for any achievements within the music industry too!" he said.

"It also seems appropriate for the band to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year as we continue our 50th anniversary celebrations with our Run For Your Lives World Tour visiting the Americas and beyond. We would also like to congratulate our fellow 2026 inductees and extend our gratitude as ever to our fans for their loyalty, perseverance and support for over 50 years now! See you all, somewhere on tour," he continued.

In other news, a new documentary looking back on fifty years of Iron Maiden is set for a cinema release. The documentary, Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition, is to hit the cinemas on May 7th, and will feature contributions from the bandmembers themselves, including drummer Lars Ulrich, Public Enemy's Chuck D, and actor Javier Bardem.
