Kings Of Leon have spoken about the first time that they heard ‘Sex On Fire’ on the radio.

The band who comprise of Caleb, Jared, Nathan and Mathew Followill, spoke about their 2008 hit, while promoting their latest album ‘Can We Please Have Fun’, along with the new single ‘Mustang’, which the band also previewed last month.

Along with this new album, Kings Of Leon also announced a new major World Tour, which includes a date at Dublin’s Marlay Park on July 6 this year.

Check out the dates for the UK and Ireland leg of the tour, and Nova’s report on this here.

Kings Of Leon Talk ‘Sex On Fire’

On ‘Sex On Fire’, frontman Caleb said this, “I remember I was at a Mexican restaurant with my wife, we were having like a tortilla soup and margaritas, and I think Andy our manager called me and said ‘Hey, there’s an interview we need you to do like right now’”.

He also added,  “I picked up the phone and it was Zane Lowe and he was debuting ‘Sex On Fire’. When he introduced the song, even like hearing it over the phone, I was like ‘Oh man, this does feel different’. So we got shots to go with our margaritas”.

‘Sex On Fire’ was a number single in Australia, Ireland, Finland, and the UK, where it reached top spot on digital downloads alone.

The track subsequently became the second most-downloaded single in the UK ever in September 2009.

2008 saw Kings Of Leon receive Grammy nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Vocal Performance By A Duo Or Group, the latter of which they won.

‘Only By The Night’ also got a nod for Best Rock Album.

Last week, Caleb Followill spoke about how he felt “completely fulfilled” by this new Kings Of Leon album. ‘Can We Please Have Fun’ arrives on May 10.
