Metallica don’t stay down for long! After recently being forced to cancel shows in Denmark over James Hetfield’s poor health, Metallica are making a return to the stage at this year’s Grammys.

The band are set to perform with Lady Gaga who recently gave a stellar performance at the Superbowl last Sunday.

The Grammys have a long tradition of pairing contrasting musical acts together and this announcement is no different. While it is unknown if Metallica are “little monsters” Lady Gaga has been proud and loud about her love for Metal music over the years. In 2015, she even said she’d rather be the next Maiden than the next Madonna. There’s no doubt that this will be one of the more exciting performances of the night.

Metallica have also been teasing fans about the performance, promising that they plan to deliver something unique and special at this year’s performance.

Other musical pairings promised are Alicia Keys with country singer Maren Morris, while the Weeknd will reunite with Starboy collaborators Daft Punk.

Metallica’s “Hardwired” is nominated for Best Rock Song this year. The band is competing with David Bowie, Radiohead, Twenty One Pilots and Highly Suspect. Lady Gaga is not nominated this year as her album Joanne was released past the 2016 deadline, but has announced that she is embarking on an arena tour for the album.

The scheduled performance is giving Rock fans something to look forward to at the Grammys, as many were disappointed when the Grammys mistakenly announced Dave Grohl was to perform, only to promptly apologise for the mix up.

The Grammy Awards will be held in the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, USA on Sunday, February 12.
