Nicolas Cage is set to join the cast of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone, appearing as a playable character in the game’s upcoming summer content update.

The Hollywood star will feature as part of the Season 4: Reloaded drop, which went live this weekand introduces a wide range of new multiplayer content, maps, modes and rewards as part of the franchise’s ongoing “summer of action” rollout.

Players will also see the return of a popular classic Black Ops mode, now made permanent, alongside updates to Zombies, Endgame and Warzone, including new weapons, challenges and ranked events.

Cage will headline a new in-game event pass, with developers confirming his inclusion as part of a wider themed season that also features daily login rewards, limited-time events and unlockable cosmetic items.

A press release described the update as: “Nicolas Cage leads the action this summer in a brand-new event pass, joined by the summer of action daily login event, new multiplayer and resurgence ranked series events, and the Kowakujō event.”

The announcement continues Cage’s unusual but high-profile run of recent roles, with the actor leaning heavily into genre projects, surreal performances and cameo appearances across film and television in recent years.

Known for his unpredictable career choices, Cage has most recently appeared in a mix of indie films, action thrillers and self-aware roles that play into his cult status as one of Hollywood’s most distinctive performers.

His addition to Call of Duty follows a growing trend of celebrity crossovers in major gaming franchises, where well-known actors are increasingly being used as playable characters or live-event skins to boost engagement.

The update comes ahead of a brand-new Call of Duty title scheduled for release in October.

Developers behind the upcoming game have reportedly confirmed that celebrity cameos like Cage’s will not carry over into future mainline entries, suggesting his appearance is part of a standalone seasonal collaboration rather than a long-term feature of the series.
