Music legends Iron Maiden,Billy Idol, New Order and Joy Division are also nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2026.
Ryan seacrest spilled the beans on the nominees during an episode of American Idol on Tuesday. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame chairman John Sykes described the induction as "music’s highest honour.""We look forward to celebrating these remarkable artists at this year’s ceremony – it’s going to be an unforgettable night," he continued.
Soul jazz vocalist, Sade, has been nominated again, they were previously nominated back in 2024. They are best known for their songs Smooth Operator and The Sweetest Taboo. Wu-Tang Clan, Queen Latifah, Celia Cruz, and Luther Vandross are among other that have been nominated for induction this year.
The 2026 induction will mark the second time Collins has been inducted. He is already in the Hall of Fame with Genesis and has eight Grammys, including album of the year in 1985 for No Jacket Required.
According to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame official website, in order to be inducted "an individual artist or band must have released their first commercial recording 25 full years prior to the year of Induction." It is up to the nominating comittee to determine who is eligible, they are made up of current Inductees, artists, historians, journalists, and other members of the music industry.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame also give fans a chance to vote. It first began in 2012-fans were given the chance to vote for the Nominees they’d like to see Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The top five to seven vote-getters in the annual online Fan Vote form one ballot.
An Instagram post was published earlier today listing the names of nominess, with fans engaging with mixed reactions. It seems that there is disappointment after the fan vote as some commenters claim that "This fan vote was pointless. Just like so many other artists who have been passed over this was a lesson learned. Not doing it again. Justice for @pink."
Other commenters flood the comment section with "Justice for Jeff Buckley" and "Justice for Mariah" to express their disatisfaction. Whilst others shared that they were "glad Joy Division/New Order will be inducted, long overdue" and they were "thrilled for Billy Idol!!"
The induction will be held on 14 November at the Peacock theater in Los Angeles.
