Liam Gallagher has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late soul singer Aretha Franklin during his amazing headline slot at Rize Festival, yesterday, August 17th. There are photos and Instagram video of the live show available below…
Liam honoured The Queen of Soul by dedicating the Oasis classic ‘Live Forever’ to the soul legend. Franklin sadly passed away earlier this week, August 16th, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, she was only 76.
Earlier during his stellar headline slot, Gallagher spoke of Franklin saying, “she had the best voice in the universe”. When Gallagher performed a rendition of his Beady Eye song ‘Soul Love,’ images of the late star also appeared behind him.

Meanwhile, Aretha Frankin’s family have moved quickly in their plans for a memorial service. TMZ reports that her family has chosen the location for a service as well as a viewing open to the public. Franklin’s family have opted for The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit city, where Aretha was a regular visitor.
The date of 31st August has been set for her funeral. In honour of the legendary soul singer, we at Nova have compiled a video list of the singer’s 13 greatest songs you’ll love. You can view the tribute to her here.
In other Gallagher news, last week, the wayward Manc found himself unhappy with Spanish security’s treatment of the front row of fans and stopped his show at Sonarama Ribera Festival. The musician was forced to stall a performance of ‘Wonderwall’ on Saturday, August 11th to give Spanish security guards a piece of his mind, telling them to leave fans alone. There’s fan footage of the moment available here.
