Queens Of The Stone Age are to release footage taken of their live performance at the Paris Catacombs, named 'Alive In The Catacombs'.

This show, which took place last June, was the first ever concert to be played at the historic site, and will be premiered next month (June 5). The show includes a setlist from their back catalogue, and sees each song imagined for the unconventional venue.

It shows bandmembers Josh Homme, Michael Schuman, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, and Jon Theodore performing at the venue with a three piece string section, while employing chains and chopsticks as makeshift percussion instruments.

While it may not have taken place in front of living audience members, the show saw the band surrounded by millions of human remains, something which frontman Josh Homme says made it “the biggest audience we’ve ever played for”.

Rumours had been spreading that this show was being recorded for a future broadcast.

The idea to perform at the Paris Catacombs was first thought of by Josh Homme two decades ago, despite permission to perform within the sacred tunnels never being granted to any artist previously. However, an exception was made for the band as a one-off.

In 2023, another live performance from Queens Of The Stone Age also went viral, their circle pit from their live set at Glastonbury. Check it out and Nova's report here.
