Rock Choir Ireland Set for First Ever Public Performances in Support of Mental Health Ireland’s ‘Hello, How Are You?’ Day

Rock Choir Ireland is preparing for its first ever public performances in Ireland as part of Mental Health Ireland’s annual “Hello, How Are You?” Day campaign on Friday, 15 May 2026. The performances will take place at Dublin’s Connolly Station at 10am and Heuston Station at 5.30pm, bringing live music, positivity and community spirit to commuters and members of the public throughout the day.

Rock Choir, known as the world’s largest contemporary choir experience, only recently launched in Ireland but has already attracted almost 200 members across the country. Many of those members will now take to the stage for the very first time as part of an initiative designed to highlight the importance of mental health awareness, meaningful conversations and social connection.

The “Hello, How Are You?” campaign encourages people to reach out to others by asking a simple but important question — “How are you?” — and genuinely listening to the response. The campaign aims to reduce stigma surrounding mental health while promoting empathy, support and understanding within communities. Organisers believe that even small interactions can have a powerful impact on someone’s wellbeing and sense of belonging.

The uplifting performances by Rock Choir Ireland are intended to reflect those same values of connection, inclusion and support through music. Claire Flynn, Mental Health Promotion Coordinator with Mental Health Ireland, described the partnership as a natural fit, highlighting the strong connection between music, wellbeing and community engagement. She said participation in choirs has been shown to improve confidence, social connection and positive mental health, adding that the organisation is excited to welcome Rock Choir Ireland for its first public performances.

Iarnród Éireann is also supporting the initiative. Joanne Bissett, Arts and Social Officer with the company, said music has a unique ability to bring people together and create moments of positivity in public spaces. Mental Health Ireland volunteers will also be present at stations nationwide throughout the day to provide welcoming spaces where people can stop, talk and connect.

Founded in 2005 by award-winning musician Caroline Redman Lusher, Rock Choir has grown into a hugely successful community music movement across the UK. With no auditions and no requirement to read music, the choir is open to people of all ages and abilities. Beyond singing, the organisation promotes friendship, confidence and shared experiences through performances, travel opportunities and community events both locally and internationally.
