“we put on a show”

Speaking about the show, Russell Crowe described it as a gathering of “people I admire, musicians, and storytellers”.

“An Indoor Garden Party is an event, a band, a happening. It’s fluid. The personnel changes, but it’s always big. It’s like a festival where I gather people I admire, musicians and storytellers, and we put on a show”, the actor said.

“There’s an attitude about this band. It’s got a groove,” he added. “We do a lot of story songs, but we also know we are here to blow out the cobwebs and give the audience a good night”.

This event began in 2009 in a pub outside London, and was set up by the late chat show host, Michael Parkinson.

Last year the Gentlemen Barbers toured Australia, a tour which also included Michael Bublé, the Wu Tang Clan, and RZA.

The band have been gathering sometimes for weeks at a time, to play and record. They have got together between Russell Crowe shooting of films including UnhingedThor: Love & ThunderThe Pope’s Exorcist, and this year’s Marvel release.

Last Summer, Russell Crowe had admitted that he was considering retiring from acting.

He stated this while accepting an award for outstanding contribution to world cinema, at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.

“You are standing in front of the mirror, and go: ‘Who the f*** is that?’ I am in that period now”, Crowe said at the festival.  “I will take Ridley Scott as my role model: he is still discovering new things in his work. Or I will just stop and you will never hear from me again”.

He added, “I haven’t decided what it’s going to be. These are two very valid choices”.
