Sinéad O’Connor’s estate have called out Donald Trump over using her music at political rallies.

The late singer’s estate and her record label have released a statement, demanding that Trump stops using her music immediately.

They also insisted that Sinéad O’Connor would not have approved of her music being used by somebody she once described as a “biblical devil”.

Sinéad O’Connor is the latest name to call out Trump over using her music for his political campaigns. Other artists include the late Tom Petty, Rihanna, Aerosmth frontman Steven Tyler, the Smith’s Johnny Marr, and Linkin Park.

Last April, David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones also condemned Trump for using his father’s song ‘Rebel Rebel’ at his post arrest speech.

Donald Trump is seeking to return to the White House, having lost out to current US President Joe Biden in the 2021 election.

“disgusted, hurt, and insulted”

The estate of Sinéad O’Connor and her record label have said that Trump’s use of her music including ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at rallies, would have left her “disgusted, hurt and insulted”.

They have since demanded that he stops using her music immediately.

The statement read, “Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O’Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness, and decency towards her fellow human beings”.

It continued, “It was with outrage therefore that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at his political rallies,”.

“It is no exaggeration to say that Sinéad would have been disgusted, hurt and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a ‘biblical devil’, they also added.

“As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates desist from using her music immediately”.
