Tanya Roberts, best known for her roles in That 70s Show, Charlie’s Angels, and her role as the Bond girl in A View To Kill, has died at the age of 65. According to her agent, Tanya died on Sunday after being hospitalised when she collapsed by her Los Angeles home on Christmas Eve.
Tanya was out walking her dogs on Christmas Eve when she collapsed. She was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai hospital where she later died. She was hospitalized and put on a ventilator, but never recovered. Although her cause of death has not been released, it was confirmed that it was not caused by COVID-19.
Tanya is survived by her sister Barbara and her long-time partner Lance O’Brien. Lance, her partner of 18 years, was able to be with her in the moments before.
Mike Pingel, her publicist and friend of more than 20 years, told reporters that Tanya was a big animal lover who “lived for her animal babies”, which included her two dogs, Muttley and Socks, a bird and Koi fish.
Paying tribute, he said: “I’m devastated, I’ve been friends with Tanya for over 20 years. She was full of boundless energy and we always had the best times. She was truly an angel and I will miss her so, so much.”
Mr Pingel added: “One of my favourite memories with Tanya was driving in the car and Duran Duran’s A View To A Kill theme song came on the radio – we both sang along. Priceless.”
“I’m devastated. She was brilliant and beautiful and I feel like a light has been taken away. To say she was an angel would be at the top of the list. She was the sweetest person you’d ever meet and had a huge heart. She loved her fans, and I don’t think she realized how much she meant to them.”
Tanya is best known for her parts on hit tv shows and big movies and will always be remembered for her roles. Britt Ekland, who played a Bond girl in the 1974 film The Man With The Golden Gun, tweeted: “Rip Tanya Roberts, once a Bond Girl always a Bond Girl!”
Tanya had a long, amazing career and took on some iconic roles. Among many other breaks, she became a Charlie’s Angel in 1980 with Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd, playing Julie Rogers in the final season of the hit show. She played Stacey Sutton, alongside Roger Moore’s 007, in the 1985 Bond film A View to a Kill. She also co-starred in That ’70s Show from 1998 to 2004, alongside Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, playing Midge Pinciotti. She also starred as the queen of the jungle in 1984’s Sheena.
Tanya joins a list of James Bond stars, who have passed away recently with Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg, aka Pussy Galore and Tracy Bond, along with the original 007 himself, Sean Connery all passing away in recent times.
