The son of the late Terry Wogan has said that the broadcasting legend was "the least showbiz person in showbiz".
Mark Wogan, son of the Limerick born presenter, made these comments ahead of the 10th anniversary of his father's passing over the weekend. Wogan was best known for presenting his weekday BBC Radio 2 show, before finishing in 2009.
Following this, Wogan also went on to present Weekend Wogan on BBC Radio 2 in 2010, before stepping down in November 2015 following his diagnosis of prostate cancer. He passed away on 31 January 2016.
Speaking about his father, Mark Wogan said: "He loved what he did", before adding: "As he said, 'I've got the best job in the world. I go into work every day and laugh for two hours".
Mark went on to describe Terry as a "family man", and that he "made a conscious decision that he was public property" but wanted to shield his family from the public eye.
He continued: "He was very private, and when he clocked off at Radio 2, he genuinely went home. And he was a family man.
"He was the least showbiz person in showbiz. And you know, if you talk about the Wogan years, where, I think there were two-and-a-half thousand people he interviewed over that period, he became friends with two of them, really".
"Various people came through the door, but, I mean, it wasn't kind of like a sort of showbiz extravaganza at home".
When asked what his father was like when he was not working, Mark revealed: "He was exactly the same, but at home, the volume was turned down".
"He was a man who, if he wasn't working, he was very much relaxing".
Along with his work on BBC Radio 2, Terry Wogan was also renowned for his TV work, including presenting BBC Children In Need, as well as his own talk show, Wogan.
