The actor cast to star as David Bowie in the forthcoming biopic Stardust has been revealed. Johnny Flynn is set to play the legendary singer in the new movie.
The biopic follows Bowie on his first trip to America in 1971. That tour led to Bowie’s development of his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust.
According to Variety, Flynn has just finished a run at London’s West End, performing with Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones in Sam Shepherd’s “True West.”
Marc Maron from Glow will play his record company publicist will star as Bowie’s publicist, and Jena Malone from The Hunger Games’, stars asBowie’s first wife, Angie.
Salon Pictures creative director Paul Van Carter said that “Johnny Flynn is one of the UK’s most talented emerging actors and a musician in his own right.”
The NME reports that the film will be directed by Gabriel Range (Death Of A President) and the soundtrack for Stardust is reported to include performances by Bowie. Filming is expected to start in June.
