The Black Crowes’ new album ‘Happiness Bastards’ was released today, their first new release since 2009.

This album sees brothers Chris and Rich Robinson lead a largely revamped line up, with bassist Sven Pipien the only musician whose tenure with the group can be traced back further than five years.

A lot has been made of the feuds, and the spats between the Robinson brothers, and this album which features ten new tracks, appears to unpack the baggage which led to their split in 2015.

It also seems to celebrate their four decades as a band, since their formation in Atlanta.

What marks Happiness Bastards from previous Black Crowes albums such as Shake Your Money Maker, and The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is the its veering towards less loose and playful energy of the previous records.

The album also includes the single ‘Wanting And Waiting’. Check that out below.

Rich’s guitar can be heard right the way through this album, as the Black Crowes revisit the 70s markers from their most satisfying records. The album also features riffs, and rousing performances aplenty.

The Black Crowes Announce Tour

Back in January, The Black Crowes announced a wide range of shows as part of a major world tour in support of this album.

This tour will see The Black Crowes perform 35 live shows, across North America, Europe, and the UK.

“Hope everybody is ready to rock & roll with us on the Happiness Bastards Tour this spring! We’re excited to be playing songs from our new album along with some deeper tracks, juicy covers, and the songs you want to hear!”, he said.

“Happiness Bastards is our love letter to rock’n’roll”, he also added. “Rich and I are always writing and creating music; that has never stopped for us, and it is always where we find harmony together. This record represents that”.
