The Waterboys have announced a run of shows across Ireland and the UK.

These shows, which take place across August and September 2026, will see The Waterboys perform under the banner, 'The Fisherman Blues Revue', as they celebrate the music from the band's classic Fisherman's Blues era of the late 1980s.

"The Fisherman's era was a transcendent time for The Waterboys and it's always exciting to delve into its spirit and see what happens. We'll be performing with an eight-piece band including the mighty Steve Earle who I've wanted to do a project with for many years. He'll bring Americana roots and killer songs to the party, and these promise to be among the best Waterboys shows ever", Mike Scott of the Waterboys said.

This tour will include a show at Dublin's 3Arena on September 5. Tickets go on sale next Thursday 27 November at 10am via Ticketmaster.

It was also confirmed that legendary fiddler Steve Wickham will rejoin the band for these shows, as will American singer/songwriter Steve Earle, who will perform as part of the Revue. These shows will see him sing songs from his own catalogue, as well as lending his vocals, guitar and mandolin to Waterboys tracks.

“I only ever wanted to be in three bands: The Rolling Stones, NRBQ and the Waterboys”, Earle said of these shows.

Alongside Mike Scott, other bandmembers performing at these shows including Paul Brother, Famous James, Eamon Ferris, Aongus Ralston, and Roar Øien.

This tour will follow on from the release of Atlantic Rain, a 3 disc of previously undiscovered music from the Fisherman's Blues sessions, arriving on Chrsyalis Records on July 17 next year.

"We made so much music during those days - hundreds and hundreds of individual recordings - that I'm still discovering magical stuff in the vaults. This set contains the best I've found so far - the music is every bit as good as the original album", Scott said of the album.
