Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge has announced his latest project, a new signature guitar.
DeLonge has unveiled a semi-hollow guitar, complete with Seymour Duncan SH-5 pickups. The guitar has been titled, the Tom DeLonge Starcaster.
Having been originally released in the 1970s, Tom DeLonge has made several alterations to this instrument, and has used it during Blink-182’s current world tour in support of their album, One More Time, the first album released by the band since DeLonge’s return in 2019.
This album, their ninth in total, also features Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker in the same line up for the first time in almost a decade.
“the coolest guitar ever made”
In a statement, Tom DeLonge called this guitar, which he made in partnership with Fender, “the coolest guitar ever made”.
“I love this guitar, I really do. It’s the coolest guitar ever made. Firstly, it is called a Starcaster—that’s the most important thing. It goes to space and expands your mind”, he said.
He also added, “I’ve streamlined the electronics, added the ‘70s headstock to round out the weight, and chose the matte finish with black hardware, so its look matches its modern feel. This guitar shows my evolution as a player but also has the hallmarks of where I came from and what I’m about”.
DeLonge displayed this guitar all over social media. Check it out here.
This also marks the second time that DeLonge has collaborated with Fender, having produced the Tom DeLonge Stratocaster in 2002. This was also re-released when the band reunited in 2022 due to “unprecedented demand”, according to Fender.
